More Fact or Fiction

- The Steve Smith "diaper change and wipe" was the most disgusting endzone celebration ever- Fact

Quite repulsive and somewhere Joe Buck's eyes are bleeding.

- The Brewers have one of the toughest bullpens in the league- Fact

Dan Kolb will regain his 2004 form now that he is back with Mike Maddux, and pairing him with Matt Wise and Derrick Turnbow means that Brewer starters will only have to go 6 innings at the most and then turn over a lead to the bullpen and the game will pretty much be over. I am quite pleased with this trade, Obermueller for Kolb, that is a no brainer, and it makes the Brewers that much stronger. Now if only they could get a starting pitcher for Lyle Overbay.

- Manny Ramirez will be playing somewhere other than Boston at the start of next season- Fiction

I was on the fence about this one until I talked to Gaddis and since he thinks Manny will remain in Boston, so do I. Gaddis is like Peter Gammons and Jayson Stark rolled into one super baseball guru to me, so I believe what he says. Seriously though, Boston would need too much in return to actually trade Manny and no one is going to be able to give them 130-150 rbi per season to replace Manny's numbers.

- Juan Pierre instantly makes the Cubs better- Fact

He is the leadoff hitter and speed on the bases they desperately needed. Having someone who can get on base in front of Derrick Lee will mean more runs for the team, which they are going to need. Pierre makes the team better, but they still need a left handed hitter with power who is also hopefully a right fielder, they could use another starter because no one trusts Kerry Wood, and they could also use another outfielder to backup Matt Merton, Juan Pierre, and whoever will be playing right field.

- Duke will beat Texas on Saturday- Fiction

I went into this a little bit yesterday, but after watching Duke/Penn tonight, I know Duke isn't good enough to beat Texas in Austin.

- Thursday night is back on NBC- Fact

With "The O.C." slipping on my radar recently with a string of "okay" episodes and a season which has been a little below par, the move in January of "My name is Earl" and "The Office" to the NBC Thursday night lineup will re-establish the network as the place to be on the night before the weekend.

- Folding laundry is one of the most boring things in the world- Fact

I don't even think I need to explain this one.

- When there's nothing else to talk about or discuss, we can always fall back on three things; The BCS, the Colts quest for 16-0, and T.O.- Fact

These are the things that are talked about everyday on ESPNRadio by everyone. Somedays it is all three, somedays it is one of three, but everyday you can hear about these topics on ESPNRadio. Here's the thing; the BCS is flawed and always will be even though they think they got it right this year (which is a whole column in itself) but still didn't, and it will never be changed as long as the money is still there, the Colts could go 16-0 and if they do will be a team for the ages, but let's just wait until they actually do it to talk about it anymore, and T.O. is an idiot, plain and simple.

Fact or Fiction

I wanted to post yesterday, but for some reason, everytime I tried to get to the site, it wouldn't come up. Since I was planning on covering a few things yesterday and a few things today, I'll just have to fit them all in today. But, instead of "rambling like a school girl", I'll do something different and play a little fact or fiction.

- The Duke Blue Devils will win the National Title- Fiction

After watching the game on Sunday, I have come to the conclusion, unfortunately, that Duke will not win the national championship this season. It is early in the season, but they just do not seem to be deep enough to win the whole thing. I have watched them 4 times this year, and although I am looking forward to seeing Greg Paulus and Josh McRoberts for the next 2 or 3 years, the team as a whole has not convinced me they are going to be able to go deep in March. Remember, I say this in December, so a lot can change in 3 months, but right now, I do not think they are a national championship team, and this Saturday's game against Texas will probably show us that.

- USC will win the Rose Bowl- Fact

There is nothing I have seen from either of these two teams which would lead me to believe that Texas can beat USC, that's it. I will say that my views may be tainted because of the fact that I have a heterosexual man crush on Reggie Bush, but that's the way it is. Other facts, Reggie Bush will declare for the NFL draft and Vince Young will not.

- The Packers will have one of the top 3 picks in the draft- Fiction

Yeah, they play the Lions this weekend, then the Ravens, so there is two wins, and that will keep them perhaps out of the top 5. I just hope that if they do have a top 7 pick that they can possibly even get AJ Hawk, although he is likely to go in the top 5. The only way I see this being different is if my conspiracy theory is actually correct and Brett Favre is throwing games so that the team can get a top 3 pick and he throws these two games as well.

- The Bears will win the NFC- Fiction

I have thought since the beginning of the season that this was going to be a good team, but they just aren't good enough to win the NFC. Yes, they have a great defense, one for the ages, but the fact is they only gain 255.2 yards per game, averaging 16.8 points per game having scored 7, 38, 7, 10, 28, 10, 19, 20, 17, 13, 13, and 19 points in their games. The defense is good enough to shut down any opponent and even score itself, but I don't see this happening in the playoffs. The best thing for them would be to have Seattle lose 2 times so Chicago gets home field advantage throughout. This is the only way I even think the Bears have a chance at winning the conference, but I really don't see it happening with Kyle Orton at quarterback. He has kept the team out of trouble so far, but when facing playoff defenses, may make the critical mistake which costs them the game.

- A Sunday Night game in Green Bay in December is ridiculous- Fact

Look, I'm all for home field advantage, but this is a pretty ridiculous job of scheduling. The only appeal this game has is that it is going to be freezing and we may actually see, for the first time ever, a player stop dead in his tracks because he is too cold to move.

- The Cubs will trade Mark Prior to the Phillies for Bobby Abreu- Fiction

When I heard this rumor today, I almost fell out of my chair. No, they will not trade Prior, or Zambrano, Lee, Ramirez, or Wood. It's just not going to happen, Jim Hendry isn't that stupid. He will trade Corey Patterson and Todd Walker, though.

Back with more tomorrow
