Fact or Fiction

I wanted to post yesterday, but for some reason, everytime I tried to get to the site, it wouldn't come up. Since I was planning on covering a few things yesterday and a few things today, I'll just have to fit them all in today. But, instead of "rambling like a school girl", I'll do something different and play a little fact or fiction.

- The Duke Blue Devils will win the National Title- Fiction

After watching the game on Sunday, I have come to the conclusion, unfortunately, that Duke will not win the national championship this season. It is early in the season, but they just do not seem to be deep enough to win the whole thing. I have watched them 4 times this year, and although I am looking forward to seeing Greg Paulus and Josh McRoberts for the next 2 or 3 years, the team as a whole has not convinced me they are going to be able to go deep in March. Remember, I say this in December, so a lot can change in 3 months, but right now, I do not think they are a national championship team, and this Saturday's game against Texas will probably show us that.

- USC will win the Rose Bowl- Fact

There is nothing I have seen from either of these two teams which would lead me to believe that Texas can beat USC, that's it. I will say that my views may be tainted because of the fact that I have a heterosexual man crush on Reggie Bush, but that's the way it is. Other facts, Reggie Bush will declare for the NFL draft and Vince Young will not.

- The Packers will have one of the top 3 picks in the draft- Fiction

Yeah, they play the Lions this weekend, then the Ravens, so there is two wins, and that will keep them perhaps out of the top 5. I just hope that if they do have a top 7 pick that they can possibly even get AJ Hawk, although he is likely to go in the top 5. The only way I see this being different is if my conspiracy theory is actually correct and Brett Favre is throwing games so that the team can get a top 3 pick and he throws these two games as well.

- The Bears will win the NFC- Fiction

I have thought since the beginning of the season that this was going to be a good team, but they just aren't good enough to win the NFC. Yes, they have a great defense, one for the ages, but the fact is they only gain 255.2 yards per game, averaging 16.8 points per game having scored 7, 38, 7, 10, 28, 10, 19, 20, 17, 13, 13, and 19 points in their games. The defense is good enough to shut down any opponent and even score itself, but I don't see this happening in the playoffs. The best thing for them would be to have Seattle lose 2 times so Chicago gets home field advantage throughout. This is the only way I even think the Bears have a chance at winning the conference, but I really don't see it happening with Kyle Orton at quarterback. He has kept the team out of trouble so far, but when facing playoff defenses, may make the critical mistake which costs them the game.

- A Sunday Night game in Green Bay in December is ridiculous- Fact

Look, I'm all for home field advantage, but this is a pretty ridiculous job of scheduling. The only appeal this game has is that it is going to be freezing and we may actually see, for the first time ever, a player stop dead in his tracks because he is too cold to move.

- The Cubs will trade Mark Prior to the Phillies for Bobby Abreu- Fiction

When I heard this rumor today, I almost fell out of my chair. No, they will not trade Prior, or Zambrano, Lee, Ramirez, or Wood. It's just not going to happen, Jim Hendry isn't that stupid. He will trade Corey Patterson and Todd Walker, though.

Back with more tomorrow

- Until next time...

It is fair to assume you and I have the same knowledge in regards to choosing who will win games in the NFL, but I think it is ridiculous to say the packers have at least two more wins on their schedule, especially this year. A top three pick for this team is not out of reach, however a top 5 pick is a little more realistic.

john, really, they are playing the lions and the ravens. The lions are a team that doesn't even care anymore, they're a dome team, and they are going to come to Green Bay on Sunday night in the cold, cold, weather and win? Not happening. And the Ravens aren't even worth discussing.

Gaddis, quick read it again, it says NFC, not NFC North. Of course they will win the North. I told you early in the season I was on the Bears bandwagon, give me some credit.
