Reds -2.0
Brewers -4.0
Astros -4.0
Cubs -8.5
Pirates -13.0

Brewers 5 vs. Phillies 4

Yup, Geoff Jenkins did it again. You know what? His trade value isn’t going to be any higher this year, trade him to the Yankees NOW! Get that $8 million off your cap and get rid of him right now. Although, that would bring up a problem of who would replace him, so you see, this is why I am not Doug Melvin.

Took my lunch hour to go home and watch some of this game yesterday and after Philly scored 3 times in the first inning, I was sure it was going to be a long afternoon for the Brewers. Then, with a 4 run 7th inning, they swept Philadelphia and should be able to continue their hot streak this weekend against the Twins.

Hooray for the Brewers being in third place and don’t look now, but they have what could be a HUGE series coming up in 3 weekends against St. Louis.

Tonight:

Brewers vs. Twins- 7:05pm

Cubs 3 vs. Nationals 5

Wood pitched 5 innings and didn’t have any problems with his arm, save for giving up 3 home runs. He struck out 6 and didn’t walk anyone. All in all, it was a good first outing for him, except for the loss. It was just nice to see him back on the mound. The Cubs once again failed to score runs when the opportunity presented itself. With runners on the corners, Juan Pierre grounded into a rally killing double play to end the Sixth when the Cubs scored 3 runs after starting the inning with bases loaded and no outs.

Ron Santo continues to be my favorite color commentator simply because you can immediately tell how the Cubs are doing based on his reaction to the next play, I would try and explain it, but it is something which simply must be heard.

The Cubs are 2 losses away from guaranteeing a losing month for May, and they still have 12 games left this month… awesome. They travel to US Cellular Field this weekend and will have a very tough series against the White Sox. Here’s how I see the rest of this month going: 1 of 3 vs. the White Sox, 2 of 3 vs. the Marlins, 3 of 3 vs. the Braves, and 2 of 3 vs. the Reds, that puts them at 8-4 over that stretch and will go into the do or die month of June with a 25-27 record.

Today:

Cubs @ White Sox- 3:05pm

-Until next time…
