Morning Report

Reds
Cardinals -1.0
Astros -1.5
Brewers -3.0
Cubs -3.0
Pirates -11.5

Brewers 4 vs. Astros 2

Well, I didn't see a whole lot of this game, but I did hear that Rickie Weeks made an outstanding throw to get Craig Biggio out before he recorded a triple. Carlos Lee continues to pound the ball and tied the game at 1-1 with his 11th home run. If they could just get Geoff Jenkins to hit consistently, the middle of the lineup would but incredible.
I did turn on the game in time to see Derrick Turnbow nail down yet another save, and am hoping he can keep it up all season. There are times when he looks like he gets really excited and over throws the ball, but he does seem to calm down pretty quickly and get back to throwing strikes. With the Astros in town for just one more night, the Brewers are looking to pull just .5 games behind them for 3rd with another win tonight.

Tonight:

Brewers vs Astros- 7:05pm

Cubs 2 vs Pirates 1

Thanks God the Cubs won that game last night as they are facing Zach Duke today and he pretty much owns the Cubs. They continue to struggle hitting without D-Lee in the lineup, but improved to 5-6 without him. If they can play .500 ball without D-Lee for the next 1 1/2 months, they should still be in the thick of things when he returns. They only have a total of 5games against their division in the month of May including last night's victory, but June will be a telling month for the Cubbies and their chances in the NL Central. In June, they play 17 of their 27 games against NL Central foes, and all but 7 are on the road. There is no other month in which they play more games against the division, and the only divisional team they don't play in June is Pittsburgh, so June should be the month we find out about this team.

The reason I'm not writting much about last night's game is because I saw absolutely none of it. My new computer should be delivered today, so I will be able to watch more games. The only part I heard was the top of the seventh when Pittsburgh scored and then the bottom of the 8th when "The Big Murt" drove in another HUGE RBI. Listening to Ron Santo call that hit was one of the highlights of the year for me, so far.
Mitchell pitched very well again, and we'll see how fellow rookies Angel Guzman and Rich Hill do in their starts tonight and Thursday.

Today:

Cubs vs Pirates- 1:20pm

I was at the game, and Weeks throw was awesome. Biggio was almost more than half way to third before Weeks caught the throw from Jenks. I can't believe it didn't make Sportscenter and Brady's catch did.

Are either of these kids, Marshall or Guzman worth a spot on my fantasy team?

Marshall might be, he has a good curveball when it is on. In fact, it made my knees buckle one night when watching a game, but I would pass on Guzman, he got didn't fair too well today in the 8-0 Cubs loss to the Pirates, and truthfully, his appearance last week wasn't outstanding.
