Accenture World Golf Championships

For the second year in a row, ourturnnext is running a contest for the World Golf Championships at La Costa Resort in California, the Match Play Championships which sets up like the NCAAs. This year, our defending champion, Chris, is back in the mix, along with myself, Gaddis, Bear, and a coworker of mine, other Nate.

After the first round, the biggest shock is obviously Ernie Els being the 9th number 1 seed to go down in the first round, losing 1 down to Bernhard Langer. Here's how our contest shapes up:

1. Chris- 46 (23-9)- (exactly the same as last year)
2. Bear- 40 (20-12)
3. Gaddis- 40 (20-12)
4. Other Nate- 38 (19-13)
5. Filzen- 38 (19-13)

Total Points which can be won by each player:

1. Filzen- 38 points earned + 320 available = 358 possible (Toms, DiMarco, Donald, Mickelson)
2. Gaddis- 40 points earned + 312 points available= 352 possible (Mickelson, Harrington, Scott, Donald)
3. Other Nate- 38 points earned + 300 available= 338 possible (Woods, DiMarco, Mickelson, Goosen)
4. Chris - 46 points earned + 291 available = 337 possible (Singh, Woods, Goosen, Mickelson)
5. Bear - 40 points earned + 187 available = 227 possible (Singh, Scott, Furyk, Els)

The final four for each person are listed after the points with the champion followed by second place, third place, and fourth place. I will update again tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday when the winner is revealed. Hopefully this won't be like last year when the final scores ranged from 58 to Chris' winning 86. Yeah, last year, no one had a person in the final four, and only Chris had more than one player in the elite eight.

Enjoy watching the tournament.

- Until next time...
