I'm Back

That's right, I'm back, baby! I really haven't been anywhere else, but it seems like I have been on a different planet recently because I haven't posted in a while. Well, that's all over. I have settled in to the job and have time to devot to the site more often. You can expect to see something from me everyday, but what you will get is short posts. Just the meat, no filler. For example, I haven't given you my NL East or Central picks yet.

East

1. Atlanta Braves
2. Florida Marlins
3. Philadelphia Phillies
4. New York Mets
5. Washington Senators... er Nationals.

Central

1. Chicago Cubs
2. St. Louis Cardinals
3. Milwaukee Brewers
4. Cincinnati Reds
5. Pittsburgh Pirates
6. Houston Astros

I don't want to think enough to put records in.

Wild Cards: Boston Red Sox and Florida Marlins

AL Playoffs:

Yankees 3 Twins 1
Red Sox 3 Angeles 2

Yankees 4 Red Sox 2

NL Playoffs:

Cubs 3 Braves 1
Marlins 3 Cardinals 2

Cubs 4 Marlins 3

World Series
Cubs 4 Yankees 3 (Remember, it's Our Turn Next!)

There you go.

Here's the Master's preview:

Best Finish by a guy you've never heard of: Ryan Moore
Best Player to not make the cut: Jose Maria Olazabal or Justin Leonard
Worst Finish by a member of the "Big Four": Vijay Singh
Score that will win: -3
Hole that will be the difference: Number 16, 170 yard par 3
"Sleeper" pick to win: Adam Scott
Expected to win: Tiger Woods or Ernie Els
My pick to win: Phil Mickelson
Over/ Under on the number of times we will hear, "A tradition unlike any other" this weekend; 73

If any of you want elaboration on my picks, post a comment.

The only thing I want to say about the National Title game is, did anybody think UNC wasn't going to win, even when it was tied at 70? I didn't think (even though the game ended up being a 5 point victory) the game lived up to the expectation, at least not for me. Am I the only one?

Gaddis, here are the odds on the West Wing Presidential election from "Filzen Sports Chair", the exclusive betting arena in my basement:

Vinick 3:2
Santos 4:1
Russell 5:1
Baker 15:1
Hoynes 25:1
Lyman 150:1
Bailey 200:1
McGarry 1000:1
Cregg 1000:1
Ziegler 1000:1
Moss 1500:1
Young 2000:1

-Until next time...

I'm taking the over on the "tradition unlike any other." Although I highly doubt the Masters powers that be ever heard of a little thing called Thursday Night Sports Talk. That's all I got.

I think the half-band acoustic reunion tour can kick off this weekend seeing as I'll be back in the River City and George Williams tells me Gaddis will too.
